THIS WEEK
Cinematic Movie Event
“A GREAT AWAKENING”
This week, we will be viewing the movie “A Great Awakening”, a powerful historical drama which brings solid truth on what the USA was founded on and how it overcame division and brought unity as a result of man’s faith.
Produced by Sight & Sound, this film dramatizes a pivotal moment in American history through the eyes of two legendary figures: the pragmatic polymath Benjamin Franklin and the electrifying preacher George Whitefield. While they arrived at the world from different perspectives—Franklin through the lens of empirical evidence and Whitefield through the fervor of faith—their unlikely partnership helped ignite the spiritual and political transformation known as the Great Awakening.
As the colonies face the turbulence of an uncertain future, this story explores how a “match made in heaven” (or perhaps just a deal made in a print shop) changed the course of a nation. With appearances by figures such as George Washington, the film serves as a reminder of the foundational values and tensions that shaped the American landscape.
This is more than just a history lesson; it is an exploration of the power of belief, the weight of evidence, and the spark that can illuminate a thousand candles. We would love for you to join us in experiencing this story, as it provides clarity of God’s hand in forming this nation and how the faith of one man can change the course of history!
We hope to see you there for this celebration 250 years in the making.
In His service,
Regina M. Dick
