Andrew Murray: “Finding the Power of the Secret Place” video
Nancy Bergeron will be facilitating this week’s PW365 Group Zoom meeting this Friday. We will be sharing a powerful reflection on the life of Andrew Murray, whose journey challenges us to deepen our own walk with God.
Murray was a prolific preacher, but his most profound impact came through silence. Early in his ministry, he struggled with physical burnout and the loss of his voice. Doctors told him he might never speak again, but it was in this “valley” that God transformed his weakness into a global legacy.
Stripped of the pulpit, Murray turned to his pen, writing classics like Abide in Christ and Absolute Surrender. He discovered that true power isn’t found in our own eloquence or effort, but in complete surrender to the Holy Spirit. As he famously taught, “Prayer doesn’t convince a reluctant God; it aligns the human heart with a willing God”.
His experience during the 1860 Worcester Revival reminds us that when we stop trying to control outcomes and instead position ourselves on our knees, God moves in ways no human planning can produce. Murray learned that weakness is not an obstacle to God’s work; it is the fertile soil for His presence.
As we gather this Friday, let us carry this heart of surrender into our intercession. Let’s remember that our power as prayer warriors does not come from how loudly we speak, but from how deeply we abide in the secret place with Christ. Whether you are facing a season of silence or a time of fruitfulness, know that God is waiting to use your available heart to set others ablaze. I look forward to praying with you all soon!
In His service,
Regina M. Dick
